So I caved and made another unicorn. This one is different from the other one and the rug in that it's horn is quite a bit smaller. This was done primarily to make it more safe to handle, larger horns are more difficult to secure and more liable to break off. (The horns for the other two had to be fixed a couple of times before I finally got it right.)
It's also different in that while I tried to keep the other two as close to the classic white as possible, this one was purposefully chosen for her jet black color. There's something kind of romantic about a black unicorn.
I've improved a bit on my sewing although she does still have visible stitches like the last one did. Unlike the last one, though, she's got solid inserts in her legs as well as her head so her feet aren't shapeless and floppy. She holds her form very well and is ready for whatever con, fair or photoshoot she'd be brought to.
I've seen a lot of soft mounts, but to my knowledge, I'm the only one making unicorn soft mounts. They're one of a kind and very soft and cuddly.
I'm really not entertaining trades on this one because I do need money, unless you've got something very special like a lifesized wolf or a mountain lion. (God I want a mountain lion, even a craft grade.)
How well do these guys sell? I was thinking of selling rogue soft mounts. Hellhounds and stuff. But I don't think they'd sell well and I would hate to waste money Dx
They get more interest than I'd expect, really. I think there's a bigger market for them than one would think. I've got three unicorn mounts all together and two of them have sold.
I'm surprised you didn't go for silver.... but I do like this mount with the gold. Wow. I really love how vibrant the blue-eyes are on this. <3 I really like this little guy/gal and they look so personal. The solid-head and leg inserts make it look like they have good 'weight' to them.
And that fur: I'll bet it's nice, soft, and silky.
Also with your stitching, the best stitch which I use on a lot of my mounts is the "Hidden Stitch." It does a great job hiding the stitches when done correctly and blends in with the surrounding fur.
Here's a tutorial I dug up on the use of a hidden stitch. I think it examples it better in my mammal manual, I can scan you the page for you if you like. c:
