Rabbit SkinThe sky was clear blue, cold, fierce and wild as a coyote. On the vast and weather-blasted earth below it was an envoy of men and one boy, brown-faced and all covered in deerskins, riding painted ponies and followed by small wolfish dogs.

The boy squinted into the close, cold sunlight, frowning and pulling his rabbit-skin cap close around his face. His father called him after that hat, as he always wore it, and the boy had longed to shed that name. To be satisfied with a name such as Buckskin or Bearskin would have to wait another season, he had ended his first hunt in failure and Rabbit Skin he would remain.

I don't know if anyone remembers my little soft-mounted grey fox "Marvin" but he was a royal mess. I decided I couldn't leave it like that so I ripped the 'form' out of his head and fixed him up.

He's still got definite flaws (ears done improperly making them look too small, eyes are round-pupiled instead of slitted like a fox should be) but he looks infinitely better than how I had him before. I just need to sew up the case-skinning hole some more on his hind legs, fix his paws a bit and he'll be finished.

Marvin isn't for sale but I might trade him off for some quality pelts if anyone has a good one.

Note: This fox was taken legally by a trapper in the United States. He was not "skinned alive" or any other such PETA rubbish.

A coyote would be perfect, actually. I had planned to do a coyote cape but when I got it, it was in such rough shape that I couldn't mount it. I've been on the lookout for a coyote to replace it.
