So, in my art class, we were assigned a collaboration project. By "collaboration," I mean we were assigned a semi-famous contemporary artist and told to create something that responded to their work.

My artist was Kiki Smith. Now, I don't know if any of you are familiar with Smith's stuff (mostly sculptures) but she does a lot of illustrative, childlike, flat looking fairy-tale illustrations. Most of them are prints, not paintings, even some photo-manips.

Smith has a sort of fixation on the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood. She has done many prints of Grandma, Red and the Wolf in various scenes and poses. She also has a penchant for self-portraits done in freaky ways.

So, I give you my own take on Kiki Smith. A drawing of myself, as a werewolf (stupid self portrait, it *almost* looks like me) out doing mah werewolf thang during a total lunar eclipse. Froody!

The little details are hard to see. Due to the size of the peice, I couldn't scan it and had to try and photograph it. It's kindof shat-looking, I'll have to fix it later. Right now, I must rest.

Sepia ink, water color, water color pencils.

I love Kiki Smith, and I can really see her influence in this drawing. I really like the ink work, especially the wolf's fur; it looks really awesome in the full-size image. I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. :3 I hope you got a good grade on this, I think it's pretty effective.

I absolutely love this piece. There's a sense of foreboding, possibly due to the overall yellow-ish tone (e.g. like when the sky turns sickly yellow before/after a storm). It's reminiscent of medieval wood carvings of werewolves. I see someone else said this piece reminds them of the sphinx in MirrorMask - absolutely agree! MirrorMask, if memory serves, was a children's book turned (beautiful) film written by Neil Gaiman. Possibly something you'd enjoy if you like fairytales and Kiki Smith. :D

I've just found out that a wolf with a human face is scarier than vice versa.

Your attention to detail is stunning. I especially love the outlines.

Like this a lot. The color is right and the perspective. Someone in comments mentioned freaking out and I agree; this pic gives off an eerie feeling, which is a very difficult thing to achieve in art.

Well done and I can see this as an illustration for a fantasy werewolf novel - it would be so perfect!

He's pretty pimpin'. He's got a great Salvadore Dali kindof vibe, even though he predates Dali.

Your art is so unique. It's haunting, creative and wonderful at the same time. Personally, this werewolf freaked me out more than all of those blood-covered hairy animal-human crossovers I've seen. It filled me with that quiet dread I feel when looking at your more....horroristic pieces.
...Sorry, got a little carried away ^^; Anyway, great drawing once again

I know that artist but I saw this picture and it reminded me a little of a movie called Mirror Mask. These sphinx creatures have human faces. I love it. Lovely job.
