Sins of man

The use of headdresses and hides and animal parts by and large seems to be a mostly pagan phenomenon, and those that don't use it for pagan spirituality use it for secular purposes.

Now, I myself am not properly pagan though I do hold a few beliefs that might be considered pagan by some. I consider myself Christian and decided to have a go at incorporating pelts and furs into iconography from my own religion.

There are three crucifixes here, the largest holding a crucified squirrel. The squirrel was left flat except for his head, which has a clay center because otherwise his expression would be unreadable. The second one is made out of mink (marten?) paws from old stoles and coats, and the third smallest one is made out of stiff scrap leather from a red fox.

All three of these buggers perished on account of the fur trade. As Christ died for man's sins, these three died for man's sin as well, the sin of vanity. Or at least, that's what I'm telling my art teacher when I turn this in.
